Greenlands Farm bed and breakfast and self catering is situated on the North
Essex / Suffolk border down a no through road 1 mile from the village of Great
Tey, although our postal address is Earls Colne which is 2.5 miles distant!
Greenlands is an extended 18th Century part timbered farmhouse, and although now
not a working farm, it is surrounded by farmland.
The bed and breakfast accommodation has been assessed by the Quality Assurance
Scheme and given four stars and a prestigious Silver Award as a mark of
excellent customer service.
The barn annexe has self catering accommodation for a maximum of two people.
This accommodation has also been assessed by the Quality Assurance Scheme and
given four stars.
We are adjacent to Chalkney Wood, an ancient coppiced wood attracting wildlife,
fauna and birds, with many public footpaths. Great Tey is on the Essex Way long
distance footpath.
Great Tey has a post office, a church and a pub which serves good food. There
are other restaurants close by. There are two golf courses and a swimming pool
and fitness centre nearby.

Greenlands is well located for the market towns of Sudbury, with its
Gainsborough connections, and Halstead, as well as being close to Colchester
which is the oldest recorded town in England with its castle and museum.
Greenlands is close to Dedham and Constable Country, as well as the pretty
postcard villages of Lavenham, Kersey and Cavendish. For those interested in
antiques, Coggeshall and Long Melford are close at hand. The boating enthusiast
can enjoy Mersea. The garden lovers can visit several open gardens in the area
and Greenlands itself has award winning gardens to enjoy.
We are ten minutes drive from Marks Tey, which is located on the A12 being the
main road connecting Harwich and Colchester to London. Marks Tey also has a
direct rail link to London Liverpool Street. We will provide transport to Marks
Tey if required.
