About Us

Greenlands Barn self catering is situated on the North Essex / Suffolk border down a no through road 1 mile from the village of Great Tey, although our postal address is Earls Colne which is 2.5 miles distant. It is surrounded by fields, ancient woodland and public footpaths. The Essex Way is in Great Tey.

Greenlands Barn has self catering accommodation for a maximum of two people. We have been welcoming guests to the Barn for over 15 years, and the accommodation has previously been assessed by the Visit England Quality Assurance Scheme and given Four Stars and a prestigious Gold Award as a mark of excellence. You can read this report on the Visit England Report page on this web site. We were also given a ROSE Award in 2018 by Visit England as Recognition Of Outstanding Service. This is given to the top 100 accommodation providers of which less than 50 were self catering providers. We have now decided to withdraw from the Visit England scheme.

Great Tey has a church and a pub which serves good food. Chappel is two miles distant and has a shop, post office and a pub. There are other shops, pubs and restaurants close by, together with two golf courses, a swimming pool and a fitness centre.
